Here’s a super simple idea for ornaments. I saw these years ago and more recently they’ve made lots of appearances on Pinterest, but until a couple of years ago, I’d never made them. These yarn ornaments can be made in minutes and they look great on any tree. Choose a yarn color that matches your tree decor and these will fit right in. With a little help with the hot glue, this is a child friendly project, fun for everyone!
To make these, you’ll need some yarn, plastic shower hooks, ribbon, embellishments and hot glue.
I bought the shower hooks at the Dollar Tree. They come in a package of twelve for one dollar. I also bought the jingle bells and ribbon at the Dollar Tree, making this a very inexpensive project.
Pop the hook open and tie the yarn in a knot to hold it in place. Continue to wrap the yarn around the hook until it’s fully covered. If you’d like a thicker look, wrap it around once again. Snip the end and use a tiny dab of hot glue to secure it. I added a simple ribbon bow, jingle bells and a loop of ribbon for hanging to finish it off.
You can make lots of these in no time at all. It’s a project that could be lots of fun to share with children. Little hands might need help with the hot glue, but other than that, they could make their own.
These can also be easily made using jute. I made this one and added a bit of plaid ribbon to give it some color.
