Sour Cream Orange Pound Cake with Orange Glaze

Starting with a box butter cake mix saves time for this delicious twist on the classic pound cake recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Butter Cake Mix
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Butter (softened)
  • 8 Oz Sour Cream
  • 2 TBS Orange Extract

Glaze:

  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 3 TBS Orange Juice
  • 1 TBS Orange Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325.

  2. Prepare a bundt pan with cooking spray. 

  3. Using a large mixing bowl, add sugar and butter. Cream until well combined. 

  4. Add oil. Mix on medium.

  5. Add eggs and orange extract and mix on medium until combined. 

  6. Add boxed cake mix to mixing bowl. Continue mixing on medium speed for two minutes. 

  7. Fold in the sour cream with spoon and and stir to incorporate into the batter. 

  8. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour. 

  9. Allow cake to cool at least 30 minutes before adding glaze. 

Glaze Instructions

  1. Whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange extract. Whisk for about a minute or until the glaze is your desired consistency. Add more powdered sugar if needed. 

  2. Once the cake has cooled, transfer it to a cake dish and pour glaze over the top, allowing it to drizzle down the sides of the cake.
