Welcome to Across the Blvd where you’ll find home decor projects and craft tutorials to help you find frugal ways to create a beautiful home.
I’m Beverly, the blogger behind Across the Blvd. My daughter, Gloria, contributes home decor and recipe projects to the blog as well. As mother and daughter, we lived just across the boulevard from each other in Charleston, SC when we started this adventure in blogging. A recent move has Gloria out on one of the islands, but we continue to create, re-purpose, and decorate together. We share easy to make crafts, inexpensive home decor ideas, coastal decor, farm house decor, and we’ll sprinkle in a few recipes now and then.
While you’re here, have a look around!

Our blog is a hodgepodge (one of my favorite words ever!) of our crafting projects, recipes, home décor ideas, and projects for our homes. While we have differently styled homes, we both love to craft and decorate. I spent my career as a history and government teacher, so sharing ideas and how tos comes pretty naturally to me. Gloria works in the non profit field as a Director of Development. She has a passion for empowering women and is fortunate to have a career in which she can do that.
From Beverly: Some days it’s hard to believe that the little bundle of pink joy I once held is now a grown woman! The years between then and now have been filled with lots life’s twists and turns, but I can happily say that we never had the stressful years of mother/daughter angst. I don’t have to look too long to see a lot of myself in her. Sometimes that’s a good thing, other times, maybe not so much. We share lots of the same interests, similar personalities and we’ve both nearly perfected the art of harmless sarcasm. I wouldn’t be honest if I said I didn’t miss her like crazy after she moved out, but what I’ve discovered is that it’s an awesome thing to have a grown daughter who is a best friend.
When I’m not creating a craft or working on diy home decor project, I can be found cheering on the Atlanta Falcons, Hawks, Braves, UGA and Georgia Southern. My Georgia roots run deep!
From Gloria: I grew up hearing “you look just like your mom” While we never really agreed with this, I have to say that on the inside we do look quite similar. Throughout the years I’ve learned just how much like my mom I am. I’ve also learned that being in my 20s and still being able to come over to my parents place for dinner and to hang out is an amazing thing.
We’ve lost count of the times one of us has asked of the other “what do you think about…” What better way is there to organize our projects and ideas than to create a blog together?
We hope you will be motivated to take some of these ideas and make them your own. So we invite you to sit down with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and have a look around.
We’d love to have you leave your comments because they let us know that you’ve seen something you like or something that has inspired you and they make our day! If you have any questions for us, we will happily try to answer them. We’d especially love to hear about it if you’ve created something of your own inspired by any of our projects. Or, if you would just like to say hello, we’d love that, too.
We’d love to connect with you.
