I put the finishing touches on my watermelon themed tablescape. Lots of DIY decor pieces and some dollar store items made this a fun summer table setting to put together.

The floral centerpiece along with white, pink, and green plates give off lots of summer vibes. The plates and glasses were all purchased at Dollar Tree. Fun and cute tablescapes can be put together with a small budget.
Watermelon Themed Tablescape with DIY Dollar Store Decor
I love using thrift store find items that just need makeovers to work with my decor. The basket was the perfect size for this. Dollar stores are always a great place to find items that can be changed up to fit in with a party theme.
Supplies Used for Watermelon Themed Tablescape
- White Plates
- Green Salad Plates
- Pink Plastic Plates
- White Napkins
- Silver Flatware
- Watermelon Glasses
- DIY Floral Centerpiece
- Terra Cotta Pots
- Coasters
- Led Pillar Candles
Two dollar store LED pillar candles were given makeovers to fit in with the watermelon decor. Paint the candles using a primer or chalk paint. Trust me on this one. Don’t start with acrylic paint. It won’t adhere well. I tried it by painting the upper part of the candles pink with a green bottom. To separate the colors, I used a piece of painter’s tape. When they were dry and the tape was removed, most of the paint came off along with it. So, that meant I needed a change of plans for painting them.
Once the chalk paint was dry, I painted the candle pink and added more of the Cricut raindrops to look like seeds. To give it some green, I painted two wood discs that I had in my craft stash.
Not long ago, I found two packages of unused cork coasters at my local Goodwill. There were twenty in each package, so I need to find lots of ways to use them. I painted four of the green and using Cricut Design Space, I chose a half watermelon to cut.
I was excited to find these glasses at Dollar Tree recently. They’re just right for this watermelon tablescape.
Next to the breakfast table, the wine rack serves as a spot for more diy watermelon decor. The welcome sign was also a thrift store find. The bowls are from Dollar Tree and I’ve filled them with appetizer picks.
I don’t serve martinis often, but these green stem glasses go great with the decor. The appetizer plates were another thrift store find. The straw holder is a sugar shaker purchased at Dollar Tree and painted to match the candles.

Wow, talk about attention to detail! I’ve so enjoyed following your watermelon decor, Beverly and I love how you put it all together! I would have never thought to paint LED pillar candles – very clever! I need to visit my local Dollar Tree more often. LOL

Thanks so much, Marie! I appreciate your visits and comments. I would have felt clever about the candles if I hadn’t made a mess of them the first time, but it was a good learning process.

What a lovely, fun summer tablescape! I am decorating my dining room and kitchen (and front door) with watermelon vignettes for the remainder of our summer months – as soon as Independence Day is over. I love this. I will definitely be painting a basket and picking up the silk flowers for the centerpiece. I’d love to find some glasses with watermelons on them. This is just the right touch for my cheery summer table. Thank you so much for sharing!
