Putting together a Thanksgiving tablescape is something I enjoy each year. I love mixing and matching items I already have to create a new look. Combining some vintage items with some dollar store and thrift store find makeovers can help you create a unique Thanksgiving tablescape with wood leaf place cards for the holiday.
I continued using the chargers, white plates, and leaf bread plates that I used for my fall tablescape. These pieces work well for changing it from a simple fall look to a style for Thanksgiving. Changing the napkins from these plain neutral ones to a set that has “thankful” embroidered on them was an easy change.
I always like to include placecards for special occasions. Even though we have a small gathering for Thanksgiving, putting placecards on each setting adds to the festive look. I found a package of wood leaf garland at Michaels a few week’s ago. It was marked down to 50% off. I bought it thinking I would use it for something crafty, but not exactly sure how it would be used. When deciding on my placecards, I realized the garland would be perfect if cut apart.
After cutting the twine from the leaves, I used Cricut Design Space and created vinyl names for each leaf. I used Magnolia Sky font and sized each name to fit on the leaves.
I placed each wood leaf on top of a napkin and added either an acorn or pumpkin candle as a favor for each guest.
Thanksgiving Table Setting with Wooden Leaf Place Cards
I found the pumpkin and acorn candles as I was searching for something else in my fall decor bins. I had forgotten that I found them on sale after Thanksgiving last year.
I love using my vintage Iris Herringbone glasses for special occasions. I have a set of them in clear glass that I like to use in the spring. This set of iridescent ones are perfect for Thanksgiving decor.
I’ve had sets of these amber candle holders for several years. I used two on each end of the table.
For the centerpiece for my Thanksgiving tablescape, I uses a dough bowl that I purchased at Goodwill last year. I filled it with an assortment of pumpkins, gourds, leaves, and stems.
It all came together for a pretty Thanksgiving look. It’s always great to to be able to shop my own home to set a pretty table.
