We’ve reached the final day of the 12 Days of Holidays Ideas! It’s been such fun creating and sharing ideas with you!
For the 12th day, the theme is Christmas Trees.
I’ve shared our formal tree in Blue, Rose Gold, and Copper as part of the Christmas Tree Blog Hop.
Our Festive Memories Tree in the sun room doesn’t change much from year to year, and I’ve shared it in previous years.
So, for today’s Christmas Tree, I’m sharing a small 4″ tree that I move to various spots each year. This year, it’s in our breakfast nook and it’s decorated with a snowy theme.
Snowflake Christmas Tree for a Small Space
Use an inexpensive metal pail for the tree stand
I changed the look of our Christmas decor for the breakfast nook this year. The table and the wine rack are decorated with snowmen and snowflakes. I’ll be sharing my snowy tablescape soon. Adding the small tree to the space adds to the festive look. I found what is made to be an ice bucket at Target in the Bullseye’s Playground area. It was $5 and when I saw it, I thought it would make a great container for a small tree.
The bucket wasn’t large enough for the tree stand to go into it, so I had to improvise. I started by adding some vase filler beads to the bottom of it to make it sturdy. I lined the bucket with a piece of faux fur that I had in my craft stash.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t full enough to give the tree enough support to stand upright. After removing the liner, I added the base of the tree and stuffed tissue paper and plastic groceries bags between it and the sides of the bucket. This keeps the tree standing upright. Then, I tucked the faux fur around the tree base to cover the plastic bags.
Silver and Blue Ornaments go well with the snowflakes.
In addition to lots of snowflakes, I used a combination of blue and silver glittery ball ornaments and icicles for the tree to add some sparkle to it. Next to the tree, I placed a light up Christmas present that has a snowy look with a blue bow to match the tree.
The corner shelf in the breakfast nook has more snowy decor. I have an assortment of nutcrackers that I’ve collected over the years and this blue and white one is perfect for this space this year.
The dollar store always has lots of inexpensive ornaments.
The snowflake and snowman ornaments are all items I had on hand. So were the blue icicles. I was glad that I didn’t need to purchase more. Many of these are dollar store finds over the last few years. For a small tree like this, the floral picks add a lot of fullness. I added several silver ones throughout the tree.
Decorate the space to match the tree.
This space is usually done in traditional red and green with lots of holly decor. I enjoyed changing it up to this bright and snowy decor. While I won’t be able to look outside of the windows here in Charleston to see a blanket of fresh fallen snow, at least I can enjoy the White Christmas look in our breakfast area!
