It’s time to bring out our patriotic decor! Using items I had on hand, I put together an easy red white and blue patriotic ribbon wreath. It’s part of my Americana decor that I’m decorating with this summer.

Each month, a group of talented bloggers join together for a themed blog hop challenge. This month, it’s a craft de-stash hop. We’re all creating projects using mostly items we have on hand to use up some of those crafting items that we’ve stashed away.

Red White and Blue Patriotic Ribbon Wreath

- Ribbon
- Decorative Patriotic Cushions
- Ball Head Pins
- Wood Stars
- Faux Blue Flower Bloom
- Hot Glue
I’ve used this felt wrapped wreath for a few different projects. Do you deconstruct wreaths to use the form over again? I do, especially for seasonal decor. To wrap the felt around the wreath, it was cut into strips and pinned in place with ball head pins.
I pulled out a couple of bins that have my patriotic crafting items in them and sorted through, looking for items that I could use to create a fun, new wreath.
I found this roll of ribbon that I bought just after the 4th of July last year once it was on clearance. It goes well with the Americana look I’m going for this year. Using pearl head pins, the ribbon is pinned to the wreath and then wrapped around it.
Make sure to keep it taunt and add more pins to the end of it.
I cut one long strip of ribbon to make a tail to hang down from the front. It’s folded over and then pinned in place.
Rather than making a bow, I used a large faux blue flower for the center. It’s also pinned in place.
To hang the wreath, I looped a small piece of ribbon around the top of it and tied it off. I added a piece of burlap ribbon over the small ribbon. It’s pinned to the wreath instead of hot glued so that I can deconstruct the wreath again if I want to in the future.
In my craft stash bin, I had these three small patriotic cushions. I’ve used them in previous years on my mantel. They each have a ribbon loop attached to them for hanging, but I tucked it behind the cushion and placed the pins through the ribbon to attach them to the wreath.
The final touch was to add a star to the top of the wreath. Since the burlap ribbon is pinned on, it can be easily removed. I used that ribbon to glue white and blue stars to.
