We don’t share recipes that aren’t desserts very often here, but this Pulled Pork Loin BBQ is one that I love and have been meaning to share for a while. This is a recipe I’ve used for years and it’s always a hit. This is a main dish that takes very little prep time. The key to making this so good is cooking it slowly. It’s a great recipe to put in the oven in the early afternoon and serve for dinner.
When I make this it’s often for a crowd. I’ve found that Costco has not only great prices for pork loins, but they are always great cuts, too. The last time I served this, I cooked three loins. We like to have leftovers for sandwiches.
There are tons of recipes out there for rubs to use on pork. Mine is pretty basic, but it doesn’t lack in flavor.

Pulled Pork Loin BBQ
Ingredients
- 1 Table spoon Salt
- 1 Table spoon Black Pepper
- 1 Table spoon Paprika
- 2 Tea spoons Chili Powder
- 2 Tea spoons Garlic Powder
- 1 Tea spoon Red Pepper
- 2 Lbs Boneless Pork Loin
- 1/2 Cup White Vinegar
- 1 Tea spoon Red Pepper
- 1 Tea spoon Black Pepper
- 1 Tea spoon Salt
- 2 Tea spoons Brown Sugar
Instructions
-
For Rub: Combine first six dry ingredients in small bowl, mix with a fork.
-
Pre-heat oven to 275
-
Coat rack with non-stick cooking spray.
-
Place the pork loin on a rack in large roasting pan. Add ¼ cup of water to the roasting pan.
-
Sprinkle prepared rub onto pork loin, rubbing it into the meat.
-
Cook for 5 hours until it’s fork tender. The internal temperature should be 185 to 200 degrees.
-
Increase oven temperature to 450.
Continue cooking for 30 minutes to brown the pork loin.
-
Remove from oven and cover loosely with foil. Allow the loin to rest for 10 minutes.
-
Pull the meat apart with a fork. If you want shredded pork, place pieces into a large stand mixing bowl and use paddle attachment to shred.
-
For Sauce: Add vinegar to mixing bowl and add in the last four items from the ingredients list. Stir to blend.
-
Once the meat has been pulled or shredded, add bbq sauce to meat and stir with a fork until coated.
Cooking this slowly keeps it moist and once it’s done, it’s easily pulled apart with a fork. It can be served that way, but I prefer to have it shredded, so I add it by small amounts at a time to my mixer and shred it.
Once it’s shredded, the vinegar bbq sauce is added. If you prefer a non vinegar based sauce, then you obviously were not raised in Georgia! Use any sauce of your choice, but this really is best with a lighter sauce rather than a thick, heavy one.
