Create your own DIY Patriotic Wall Art using a triple frame, fabric, and a few accessories. Summer is almost here and with that it’s time to bring out the red, white, and blue!
Keeping seasonal decor budget friendly is always my goal and one of the best ways to do that is to start a craft or project using a thrift store find.

It’s easy to make one of a kind patriotic decor for your home. Everyone has their favorite red, white, and blue patterns. I love the vintage Americana look similar to this DIY Patriotic Wall Art I created last year.
Patriotic Hanging Frames

This triple frame wall hanging has been in my craft stash for a while. I found it at my local Goodwill for only a few dollars. I love that it was already blue, so there was no need to paint it. With any thrift store finds, you’ll want to clean it up before getting started.
I removed the glass panes and cleaned them with window cleaner and the frames were cleaned with a lint free cloth and some Dawn dishwashing liquid.

After cleaning, the frames were good to go. The muted blue color is just right for the look I wanted to the piece to have.
To make your own patriotic display piece that is similar to mine, you’ll need patriotic fabric and Mod Podge.

Using a sponge brush, cover each of the panes of glass with a coat of Mod Podge. It will need to be thick enough to hold the fabric in place, but not thick enough to cause bubbles.

Cut three pieces of fabric that are just a little larger than the panes of glass. Depending upon the pattern of the fabric, you’ll need to make sure that you have it centered.
Press the fabric onto the Mod Podge covered glass and use a ruler to make sure there are no wrinkles or air bubbles.

Next, the fabric will need to be trimmed to fit the panes. Using a rotary cutter or fabric scissors, trim away the excess fabric.
I used this same process last year to make a set of Patriotic Coasters using this same fabric.

Insert the glass panes and the the frame backings in place. Once this is done, decide on how you’d like to embellish the wall art.

Attaching ribbon or twine is an easy way to add some interest to any frame. For this, I chose to us twine and a couple of metal stars that I had in my craft stash.

The twine is hot glued to the back of the frame and wrapped around and glued again on the back.

Finally, the stars are glued over the twine on both sides of the middle frame.

This piece can be used as a wall hanging or it can rest against something to hold it upright. I’m thinking of using it as the focal point for a patriotic mantel.
