I’ve been using my Easy Press more lately and it’s definitely one of those tools that becomes easier to use the more you work with it.
DIY Patriotic Flour Sack Dish Towels
You can find inexpensive flour sack towels at Walmart or Amazon. I found this set of two oversized ones at Walmart recently.
Before getting started with the design I used my Easy Press to iron the towels. It’s easy to remove the wrinkles from fabric using it. I set mine to 350° to use it for pressing fabric.
This was a fun and easy design to create using Design Space. I searched for Sea in images and inserted it into the canvas and then used the duplicate tool. I used Magnolia Sky font to write “to shining” and placed it in the center.
I didn’t use the attach tool for this project since the lettering is large, I wanted to cut it individually. When you are creating a design for heat transfer vinyl, make sure to click on the “Mirror” option before cutting. Place your HTV shiny side down on your cutting mat.
For the second towel, I searched images for waves and inserted one I liked. Next, I added stylized star images that look like starfish. I resized the images to fit the towel before cutting. Again, don’t forget to use the mirror option before cutting on heat transfer vinyl.
After cutting and weeding, I positioned the graphic onto the towel.
I used the Cricut Heat Guide to determine the correct settings for the Easy Press. For this it was 315° for 30 seconds, then flip for an additional 15 seconds.
The same steps were used for the wave image and the starfish.
I like the coordinating look of the two towels, one with words and one with just images.
I love that these go well with lots of my coastal decor in my kitchen. I love finding ways to incorporate coastal into seasonal decor.
This will be great to have out throughout the summer and especially for our July 4th celebration. The hardest part was just deciding on the design I wanted to use for the towels. Easy Press makes it super simple to bring ideas to life.
Do you have an Easy Press? If not, I would definitely recommend it for easy projects like these towels and for Market Totes with fun designs.
