Gloria and Georges are getting settled into their new home and planning several wood working projects. Before Georges can get started on building and painting some furniture, he wants to get the garage set up. The first step in making the garage a great usable work space is painting it. Painting a Garage with Ease means you need the proper tools. We’re taking a break today from our Christmas posts to tell you about how easy it was to paint a garage and get it ready to use as a work space.
Georges spent time preparing the space for painting, moving the boxes and other items they’ve had stashed in there since the move. He taped off the door molding, outlets, and the tankless hot water heater.
They are using lots of grays in their home, so they extended that into the garage. They chose Behr paint. Behr is the paint I used for my office makeover and our sports room makeover.

Using the PaintStick EZ Twist from HomeRight made painting the garage a much easier task than it could have been.
Assembling the PaintStick was easy and it was easy to use, too. Filling it up with paint went quickly and the splatter guard worked well.
Painting one wall took about 30 minutes and there was not a drop of paint that splattered onto the floor.
It would have been helpful if the stick extended a little more. It was barely long enough for 9 foot walls, especially since you’re working against gravity, trying to feed paint through the roller. Georges also found it to be cumbersome to use for the ceiling. His concern was that it was too heavy with paint in it and not long enough without much paint.
Cleaning the PaintStick EZ Twist wasn’t very intuitive. Fortunately, there are YouTube videos provided by HomeRight that show the best way to clean it.
Overall using the PaintStick was a time saver and it was great that the paint didn’t splatter onto the floor. We’d recommend it for lots of painting jobs. You can find these at Lowe’s in the paint section.
Have you tackled a garage? My husband built a massive storage shelf in our garage years ago and he’s had plans to do more, but you know how plans can go!
Now that Georges has the garage walls and ceiling painted, he’s moving on to the floor. Once that’s completed he’ll be ready to set it up as a work space. I can’t wait to see what he’s going to build!
