It’s one of the rare occasions when we’re sharing some decor from Gloria’s place. While I love all things coastal and creating new decor from thrift store finds, those aren’t exactly Gloria’s style. Not at all, really. Her place is a mixture of glam, sophistication, and fun with lots of mixed metal accent pieces. This Marquee Monogram is a fun piece that she put together starting with a kit from Michaels.
The Marquee Love Letter Kit contains a letter tracing template, letter shape, LED lights, and bulb caps. Gloria purchased a G and and E in 8 inches and an R in the 12 inch size.
There are lots of ways to embellish the kits. Gloria chose clear script scrap booking paper. The words and phrases are in gold, so it goes well with her decor.
The first step is to trace the letter template onto the scrap booking paper. To make sure it didn’t move, she used small pieces of tape to hold it in place while she traced and cut.
Marking the mark holes with marker makes it easy to find the correct spots. She used a hole punch to make the openings.
After placing the scrap booking paper into the letter, the light caps are put in place, followed by the LED light string.
That’s all there is to it! She followed the same steps using the G and the E letters.
Even when the lights are not on, it’s a fun decor piece. The backing can be chosen to match any decor. It does need to be thick enough not to tear when inserting the bulbs.
The marquee monogram gives off a nice warm glow when turned on. Each letter requires two AAA batteries for the light string.
I think they look great sitting on top of her ladder shelf.
With the overhead lights turned off, the scrap booking paper is highlighted.
Of course, Gloria waited until these kits were on sale and she used a coupon on top of that to keep the cost low. I like that she used two different sizes to give it the look of a monogram.
