Making this party tray for our flamingo themed party was an easy makeover of a thrift store find tray, combined with my first Cricut vinyl project. I’ve been spending lots of time learning about all the awesome projects that can be made using the Cricut. I’ve got tons to learn, but I was happy with how this Let’s Flamingle Party Tray Makeover turned out!
I found two trays like this recently at Goodwill. They were priced at 2.99 each, so I bought both of them. I have way too many trays in my stash, but I can’t seem to resist them at Goodwill since the prices are always low.
Supplies Used:
Thrift Store Tray
Waverly Chalk Paint
Jeweled Ribbon
Vinyl for Cricut
Transfer Tape
Hot Glue

This one needed some cleaning up before being painted. I used a dish scrubber to wash away the sand like particles on it.
I had some leftover Waverly Chalk Paint in Ballet Slipper Pink. I used it for my Spring Blooms Wall Art and again for some Easter decor. It took two coats to get good coverage.
While the tray was drying, I worked on creating a Cricut file of a pink flamingo and the text “Let’s Flamingle.” There is so much to learn about using a Cricut, but doing basic files like these is easy. I spent some time watching videos of tutorials before I got started on the project. Those were helpful! I used an image of a flamingo that I found in the Cricut design space. Once I become more proficient, I’ll be able to share files I’ve created and maybe some how-tos. For now, I’ll show you what I did with the design.
Once I weeded the image by separating the image from the vinyl sheet, I used transfer tape to place it on the tray. I like the contrasting shades of pink between the tray and the flamingo.
Let’s Flamingle is such a fun party idea and it’s perfect for the frivolous, whimsical decor that I used for the party.
To add a little more color to the tray, I hot glued some jeweled ribbon around the outside of the tray. I bought this at the Dollar Tree during the holidays last year.
The secondary color for the party is teal, so this jeweled ribbon is a great match.
I added a couple of rosettes that I had in my craft stash to the corners of the tray. These have adhesive backings, so they didn’t need to be glued onto the tray.
The tray is used as the centerpiece on the appetizer table for the party. I placed the flamingo candle holders that I made from Dollar Tree items next to the tray.
I’ll have a couple more Flamingo Party ideas that I’ll be sharing. I had such fun putting this party together and our guests all loved the fun decor!

Let’s Flamingle Party Tray Makeover
What do you think about flamingo decor? I know that some people think it’s a little or maybe a lot tacky, but I think it’s just plain fun! It’s not something that I would use for every day decor, but for a party, it was a fun look.
We’ll be sharing at lots of these great parties!

My daughter has become the cricut “expert” of the family. even though there’s a learning curve to using it, i like that you can jump in and get started right away with fun and easy projects like yours.
