Since I waited until the weekend prior to Thanksgiving to decide to do this, I needed to make it simple and quick. I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond on Friday to look for some new napkins. I found a set of four that came with one each in green, brown, burgundy and gold-perfect for Thanksgiving. Next to the napkins, I spotted sets of leaf coasters that matched the napkins. It only took a minute for me to see how I could use these for my place cards. The slits in them would work just right to hold the card in place. I bought two sets of napkins and two sets of coasters.
Thanksgiving Place Cards and Tablescape
Creating place cards for a family gathering of only eight people is not something I’ve done before. I’ve really never given any thought at all to the idea. It seems a little unnecessary, but after seeing so many cute ideas on lots of blogs this season, I decided that I wanted to do something this year. So, while it might not be necessary, it makes my Thanksgiving table scape pretty, and really now, isn’t that all that matters?
How I Made It
I used a pretty script font called Candlescript and printed each name in an orange/brown tone on card stock. After cutting the cards to the right size, I just tucked them into the slits. Instant place cards!
I’m happy with the colors and the look of each place setting,
My centerpiece is an antique pedestal cake plate with gold trim filled with an assortment of faux pumpkins, gourds and leaves. I used two Depression Era Iris Herringbone double candlesticks on either side of the centerpiece. The mid century Libbey Golden Foliage glasses are perfect for Thanksgiving. The gold rimmed wine glasses were a gift from my mother when she had her antique store years ago. The china is Winterling Dawn Rose, also gold trimmed. The flatware I found at an antique store is also golden. It all comes together nicely, I think.
I’m loving all the different colors.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a lovely day.
May our hearts be filled with thanks and giving!
