This simple Gather Tray using a thrift store find was a quick and easy Thanksgiving decor project. I love using my Cricut for projects like this, but any vinyl decals could be used.

Before we get fully engulfed with Christmas projects, I wanted to share this quick and easy Thanksgiving piece.
Gather Tray Using a Thrift Store Find
Most of the trays that I find at my local Goodwill are in rough shape. At the very least they need a fresh coat of paint. This white, oval tray was in perfect condition though! All it needed was a quick cleaning with dish washing liquid and it was ready.
Supplies Used for Thanksgiving Gather Tray
- Thrift Store Find Tray
- Cricut Air Explore 2 & Tools
- Gray Vinyl
- Transfer Paper
The store tag was still on the back of the tray. It originally came from At Home. I couldn’t find one just like this on their web site, but similar ones are listed for around $20.00. I paid $2.99 for it and I had the vinyl and transfer paper on hand.
Using Design Space, I searched for “gather” and found this pretty image. If you have design space, you can find it by searching for #M3D281BC in images.
After resizing it, I cut it from gray vinyl. Once the weeding was done, it was ready to be transferred to the tray.
I’ve mentioned before that I like using transfer paper instead of transfer tape. I’ve had more success with it working easily.
This was such an easy way to dress up a plain tray. While I used my Cricut, I’ve seen vinyl decals at dollar tree that would be great to use to enhance a tray.
I like the size of this tray. It’s large enough to hold several wine glasses and mugs, making it great for a drink serving tray for guests.
It can also be used as a coffee table tray with a simple fall decor piece added to it. Don’t you love quick and easy seasonal projects?

Thanks! I love finding items like these at Goodwill. Sometimes I wonder why they were donated when they are in such great shape.

I just turned my Cricut maker on for the first time yesterday. I will remember your tip for using inexpensive contact paper for transfer sheets. Your Thanksgiving tray is lovely and it will be my feature at the Talk Of The Town party next week! Pinned
