I’ve been enjoying creating some watermelon crafts to put together a fun watermelon themed tablescape. You can create your own watermelon designed basket in only a few minutes using a plain basket and some bright green and pink paint. Fill it with faux flowers and it can be a cute centerpiece.
Floral Centerpiece Basket with Watermelon Design
Supplies Used for floral centerpiece basket with watermelon design
- Thrift store basket
- Green Acrylic Paint
- Pink Acrylic Paint
- Cricut & Black Vinyl
- Faux Flowers
I bought this basket at my local Goodwill not long ago. I was thinking that it would be great for a fall apple basket decor piece, but as I was putting together my watermelon tablescape ideas, I thought it would be just right for this. It might get another makeover this fall though.
After cleaning the basket up to remove dust, I painted the bottom section using bright green acrylic paint.
I gave it time to dry before adding the bright pink paint.
I searched my Cricut design space for watermelon seeds. I didn’t find any, so I searched for just seeds. Still no luck. But, I did find raindrops! Raindrops worked well enough to mimic the look of seeds.Sometimes you have to improvise! After resizing, cutting and weeding them I placed them randomly on the pink part of the basket.
This pink and green floral stems go perfectly with watermelon decor. I found these at the Dollar Tree. Instead of cutting the stems, I bent them so that they would spread out over the bottom of the basket without using foam.
Pink and white flowers, also purchased at Dollar Tree complete the look. I’ll be sharing the fun watermelon tablescape soon with some other dollar store craft ideas.
If you love fun party decor, I think you’ll like these, too.
