This is a ridiculously easy craft project using mostly items from the dollar store. We’re having weekend guests soon and I’m planning a flamingo themed party. I’ve been looking for some DIY projects that will fit into the party theme. When I spotted these plastic flamingo cups recently, I thought they would make fun DIY Flamingo Candle Holders.
A flamingo party lends itself to lots of colorful, fun decor. I was happy to have found some paper napkins and dessert cups at the Dollar Tree that all had flamingos on them. These plastic cups combined with small led candles will be a fun addition to the appetizer table at the party.
Supplies Used:
Dollar Store Plastic Flamingo Cup
Washi Tape
Dollar Store LED Candles
Oval Wood Shapes
Chalk Paint
E 6000 Glue

After pulling the straws out of the cup lids, I wrapped pieces of Washi tape around the rim of the lids. I used the same teal color tape to wrap around both candles. A piece of pink and gold tape is centered on top of the teal.
I’ve had the craft wood ovals in my craft stash for a while. They make a great base for the flamingo candle holders. I painted both of them using Waverly Chalk Paint in Peacock.
Once the paint was dry I used E6000 Glue to adhere the cups to the wood. These can be put together in minutes. Allowing the paint to dry was the only thing that took much time. Since I used chalk paint, it dried in about 20 minutes. Everything I used was either on hand or purchased at the Dollar Tree, so the cost was super low.
Sometimes it’s fun to put together a simple project that is specific to a certain theme for a party. There’s a line between cute and fun and tacky. I may have crossed that line with these flamingo candle holders, but I’m okay with that!

I’ve got a few more flamingo themed projects that I’ll share soon, including my very first Cricut project. I’m super excited that I was gifted a Cricut Air Explore 2 for Mother’s Day. It’s a learning curve to be sure, but I’m looking forward to making and sharing lots of projects using it.
We’ll be sharing at lots of these great parties!
