Turning a plain jar into a winter snow covered vase could not be easier. A little Epsom salt, Mod Podge and embellishments will have you singing White Christmas in no time! This upcycled pasta jar is now a pretty straw holder.
I use the top of my wine rack for various displays throughout the year. During the holidays, it becomes a hot cocoa, hot tea and drink bar. I picked up some pretty paper straws from the dollar bin at Michael’s and needed a container to hold them. Since I save every Barilla pasta jar I buy, I knew just what I wanted to do.
After cleaning the jar and removing the label, I used acetone nail polish remover to get rid of the sticky residue. I let it dry thoroughly and then used a paint sponge to cover it in Mod Podge.
I sprinkled Epsom salt on the jar until it was fully covered, shaking off the excess. After allowing it to dry, I brushed another light coat of Mod Podge over the salt.
This is such a simple project, but I think the result is pretty. My straw holder fits in perfectly with the decor atop my wine rack.
