Putting together a Fall Mantel Decor and Pine Cone Wreath adds a festive fall look to our family room. Most of the items I used for this look were ones I already had and some that got a new look for this fall season.
Changing out the mantel decor is an easy way to add seasonal decor to the space. Lots of pumpkins, pine cones, and some candles all mesh together for a colorful fall display.

Supplies Used for Fall Mantel Decor:
- Candles
- Raffia
- Ribbon
- Glue
- Acorn Floral Picks
- Pumpkins
- Lantern
- Wire Wreath Form
- Pine Cones
- Floral Blooms
- Vase Filler Spheres
An easy way to dress up plain candles is to add ribbon. I’ve also used decorative tape to give them a new look. For these, I wrapped some burlap ribbon with pumpkin designs around each candle and added a dab of glue to hold the ribbon in place. I used raffia to make small bows and glued the bows to the ribbon. The final touch was adding an acorn by gluing it in place.
This lantern with a pillar candle inside was another of the items that my mother gave to me when she was clearing things out for her move in with my sister. I love the weathered look it has. I sorted through some floral picks in my craft stash and decided on using some with small pine cones on them.
I bent the wire and placed one on each side to the candle.
For the mantel, I put clusters of pumpkins, decorative spheres, and the pillar candles on each end. To give candles and the green ceramic pumpkin some height, they are both placed on candle holders.
A small pick was added to one of the slots on the top of the lantern and it’s placed between some pumpkins and beeswax candles.
Since we rarely use our fireplace for a fire, I like to keep it decorated. I switched out some sea shells that I usually keep there and added some wooden pumpkins along with some fall flowers and small pumpkins in a basket filled with pine cones.
Last fall, I made a Pine Cone Wreath that I used for Thanksgiving decor. I removed the “thankful” sign and the bow and added in some ivory floral blooms for a new look.
I like the contrasting colors of adding in a few orange pumpkins to the neutral tones of most of the others.
I was pleased that this all came together by using items I already had. Changing the arrangement, painting, or adding decorative ribbon are all ways to give old pieces new looks. We all love to save money and shopping our own homes is a great way to do that! The pieces might be the same as we’ve used before, but the look can easily be made to look fresh and different.

Thanks, Kim. I put ours together while waiting on hurricane news a couple of weeks ago. I needed a distraction from the weather and so it got done earlier than usual. Thanks for the party.

This is very quaint. I am always surprised at how little embellishments make a lantern look so different.

Thank you. It’s always fun to have something turn out the way you want it to with only a few additions. I’m thinking of ways I can use this for the holidays this year, too.
