Using fresh eucalyptus stems to create a table runner for a party buffet not only looks pretty, but the aroma is wonderful, too. Adding in some milk glass bud vases filled with white flowers and baby blue eucalyptus stems, along with some diy menu cards created a lovely party buffet for a recent engagement party.

Eucalyptus Table Runner and Party Buffet Decor
Supplies Needed for Making a Fresh Eucalyptus Table Runner
- Fresh Eucalyptus Stems
- Floral Wire
- Floral Wire Cutter
Gloria found a local wholesale florist that she loved. She stopped by a couple of weeks prior to the party and ordered both Silver Dollar and Baby Blue Eucalyptus stems. She also ordered an assortment of white blooms. The day before the party, she stopped by to pick them up.
We used two tables for the party buffet. Here’s a secret. Beneath the white table cloths, you’ll find a patio table and a card table. Georges has plans to custom build a dining room table, so we had to be creative when coming up with tables to use for the party. We placed the dishes, serving trays, and bowls on the table to determine how wide the runner needed to be.
Gloria began by spreading the silver dollar eucalyptus stems along the length of the tables. She snipped off excess stems as she moved along using a floral cutter.
Floral wire was used to bind the stems together so that they would remain in place. The wire is placed at spots where two stems met.
Once she had the stems bound and in place, she added in some of the clippings to fill in any gaps and open spots.
Some of the excess silver dollar stems were placed along with white roses and baby blue eucalyptus stems in milk glass bud vases.
For the dessert buffet, more of the stems were used in a couple of teardrop milk glass vases with white flowers
When serving food on a buffet table, it’s always a good idea to have labels for each dish. Gloria found the metal holders on sale at Michaels and I used my Cricut to make label cards. The cards are made using heavy card stock and are attached using a tape runner. They are removable for re-use of the metal holders.

Beverly we used to have eucalyptus trees near our house in Greece and I filled the house with them and their wonderful aroma. This is a fantastic way to decorate and mother nature is always bountiful.
