Here’s an easy way to Dress Up a Plain Faux Pumpkin. I love adding my own touch to decor items that need a little dressing up. I found this faux pumpkin last year at Home Goods, but I didn’t add the embellishments until I got it out of my fall decor bin this season. Have a look at how easy it is to give a plain faux pumpkin some style.
Decorative Tape is such a great craft item. There are so many uses for it. I found a roll that was narrow that was perfect for this project. I had the stretch cord in my craft stash. It’s easy to dress up a plain faux pumpkin with just a few supplies.
The indentations in the pumpkin were deep enough for the tape to fit right into them. I was a bit disappointed in this particular tape. It did not want to adhere well to the pumpkin. I added tiny dots of hot glue at the stem. The tape was pulled down the indentations and wrapped underneath the pumpkin. A little more hot glue was needed for the bottom, too.
To give the pumpkin a more finished look, I wrapped a piece of stretch cord around the stem. I hot glued it in place and trimmed off the excess.
A few weeks ago while out shopping for nothing in particular, I spotted this leaf ornament at Tuesday Morning. I didn’t know just how I would use it, but it was too pretty to pass up. Once I decided to embellish this pumpkin, I knew how to use the ornament.
The twine of the ornament is wrapped around the stem. I added a dot of hot glue to make it stay in place.

Thanks so much, Florence. I liked the look of the pumpkin, too. It was a little different than lots I see. I’m sure that’s why I bought it even though I did not need another pumpkin! I enjoyed dressing it up this year. Thanks for sharing!

Beverly this is a case of when adding bling it really makes a STATEMENT. While the plain white pumpkin was pretty by adding the gold you certainly took to a whole other level and made it regal.
Beverly says
A little bling is a good thing! Thanks, Mary! It’s fun to take something plain and give it a little pop!
