I love finding items at Dollar Tree that I can turn into pretty Christmas ornaments. These two tassel plaques were given makeovers using paint and my Cricut.
Since they only cost $1.00, this is a budget friendly craft that’s great for Christmas.

DIY Christmas Ornaments are always fun to make and keeping the cost for making them low is always my goal.
Farmhouse Christmas Ornaments from Dollar Tree Plaques
Any time I shop at Dollar Tree, I like to look through the store in search of items that can have new uses with small makeovers. These tassel plaques were hanging on the picture frame aisle. When I saw them, I knew they could become Christmas ornaments easily.
The first step in the transformation was to paint them. It took two coats of chalk paint to cover the writing on the plaques. Once both coats were dry, I added a thin coat of DecoArt Dura Clear Finish.
Using Cricut Design Space, I search for word images for Christmas and found lots that I liked. I chose “Be Merry” and a simple “Joy” for these ornaments.
After cutting and weeding, the words were placed on the ornaments using transfer paper. I prefer paper over the clear tape.
Since I liked the gray and white beads and the gray tassel, that’s all I had to do to turn these everyday Dollar Tree items into pretty Christmas ornaments.
I added a small gray bow to each ornament and I was finished.
Since I had the paint, vinyl, and transfer paper on hand, it only cost $2.00 to create one of a kind ornaments.
Do you look around dollar stores for items that you know could be transformed to fit in with your décor? Last year I had a Snowy Farmhouse Christmas Tree upstairs that will filled with black, white, and gray ornaments. These Dollar Tree tassel ornaments will look great on that tree this year.
