I used a thrift store find caddy last month to make a Tropical Party Caddy and wanted to make more accessories with that design. In searching Pinterest for tropical party decor, I saw a set of diy coasters painted with fruit slices from The Crafted Life. That gave me the idea to use the same leaf stencil that I used for the caddy to make my own tropical coasters.
DIY Tropical Coasters

Last year, I found a package of these coasters at my local Goodwill. The unopened package had twenty of them.

I painted each coaster white using DecoArt acrylic paint. I used the tropical leaf stencil on each one using a different color for each. Using a spouncer instead of a brush gives clearer edges.

I love using self adhesive stencils when I can find ones that have the design I want. If the stencil isn’t self adhesive, be sure to tape it down well using painter’s tape. Make sure to clean the stencil after applying each paint color.

To protect the stencils, I gave each of them three coats of DecoArt DuraClear Gloss Varnish, allowing them to dry between each coat.

With just paint and a stencil, you can create any design to match a party’s theme.

While we still aren’t having parties or family get togethers yet, these will be ready to use when we do.
