I love making fun ornaments for our tree and this DIY Cupcake Ornament is not only fun, but easy and inexpensive to make. You could make several of these in very little time.
It’s time for the Monthly Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. Each month, we’re challenged to create a project or recipe that is inspired by something that we’ve pinned. I pinned several cupcake ornaments years ago that I’ve wanted to make. This year, I’m sharing lots of easy crafts for Christmas, so it’s the perfect time to create my own DIY Cupcake Ornament. When I was looking for the link to a pin that I loved, I couldn’t find the original source. I found that the ornament had been posted to a number of sites, all without credit given to the original. I found another pin to share as my inspiration that is from I Am a Homemaker.
Supplies Used for DIY Cupcake Ornament
- Foam Ball
- Gold Foil Cupcake Liner
- Wood Dowel
- Mod Podge
- Sponge Brush
- Box (to catch excess flakes)
- Faux Snowflakes
- Berry from floral stem
- Pearl Head Pins (2)
Making these is super easy and only takes a few minutes. Place a dowel into the center of a foam ball.
Coat the ball with Mod Podge. Place over a box or something to catch the excess snow flakes. Generously sprinkle the snow flakes over the ball, making sure that there aren’t any spots left uncovered. Set aside to dry for about 10 minutes.
Place a dollop of hot glue into the bottom of a foil cupcake liner. Run a bead of glue around the center of the liner. Place the snow covered ball inside of the liner.
Cut a piece of ribbon or twine for a hanging loop. Use pearl head pins to hold it in place at the center of the ball.
Snip a large berry from a floral pick to mimic a cherry.
Place a dot of hot glue on the ribbon and add the berry. Hold it in place for a minute or so until it sets.
I love easy crafts like this one and it turned our super cute. Mine has a different look than the inspiration pin, but the one I saw that I couldn’t find an original source for is quite similar to this one.
