I love finding thrift store items that can be transformed to fit in with my decor or to use as practical storage solutions for my craft room. The Craft Paint Brush Holder that I made from a bulletin board is a great way to keep the brushes close at hand.
I was sorting through some items that Gloria had left at my house and came across a jewelry holder. It was about to go into my donation box, but I always stop to think about how I could repurpose items before I donate them. Turning it into a wall mounted holder for my Cricut tools was the best idea.

The first step to change the look of an item after cleaning it is to give it a new paint job. While this jewelry holder is a fun piece, it’s not something I need. Giving it a makeover with a practical purpose was the way to go.
The gold hooks were easy to unscrew. I removed those before painting. I used the same paint for this piece as I used for the brush holder. It’s DecoArt Chalk Paint in Primitive.
After giving it two coats of paint, I used medium grit sand paper to sand down the edges. I like having a bit of the white show.
Using a foam floral block is an easy way to paint small items like these hooks. Spray painting them was the easiest way to paint them. Insert them into the block, spray them and let them dry before giving them a coat of protective finishing spray.
After everything has a fresh coat of paint the hooks were screwed back in. I could have left it as is, but that would be boring!
Using my Cricut, I designed, cut, weeded, and applied “Cricut Tools” onto the holder. The trademark Cricut C came with my Easy Press and this seemed like a good place to use it.
Taking this from an item that was about to be donated into a useful holder for my Cricut tools is such an inexpensive way to get some things organized in my craft room.
Having my craft paint brushes and my Cricut tools just above my craft desk means that I don’t have to spend extra time looking for just what I need. They are easy to reach.
Keeping my craft room organized makes me more productive. Having items that I use frequently close at hand is a great way to keep a project on track.
