I’ve been using a combination of red and gold for my mantel for several years. This year, I decided I wanted to change things up. I wanted to switch from gold to silver and make the entire mantle more lush and full. I also decided to move all of the stockings away from the mantel this year. I gathered all the pieces I would need and started putting it together. I knew what I wanted it to look like, but I wasn’t precisely sure how I was going to make that happen. By adding pieces, then taking some out, then switching things around, I got the exact look that I had in mind.
I started with two pieces of pre lit garland, letting it hang down each side. I used three Command Hooks to hold it in place. Those work great to keep it from slipping off.
I worked two candle holders into the garland to the mantel and added glittery silver tapered candles.
The next step was to add the deco mesh ribbon. It’s just gathered and bunched along the top of the mantel and held in place by using sprigs of the garland twisted around it, then it’s wrapped around the side pieces.
Sometimes, it’s fun to switch things up. After a few years, I’m usually ready for a change in some of my Christmas decor. What about you?
