Every year, I like to create a new Christmas Countdown. I also like to keep them budget friendly. In recent years, I’ve reworked a Thrift Store Find, made a Christmas Countdown Ornament, made a Magnetic Santa’s Beard using a dollar store baking sheet.
This year, I found a fun easel on clearance after the holidays last year.
Chalkboard Christmas Countdown Easel

I popped into Big Lots in January and found that all of the Christmas items still on the shelves had been marked down to a couple of dollars or less. I bought this easel for .89.

To change up the look, I gave it two coats of black chalkboard paint. I left the stand bright green.

Using Cricut Design space I found an image that I wanted to use. After cutting and weeding it, I used transfer paper to place it on the easel.

As a border for the countdown number, I used a Design Space wreath graphic.

Here’s where I tell you that I goofed! I meant to cure the chalkboard before adding the vinyl.

I didn’t want to start over with the vinyl, so I just cured the spot inside of the wreath by rubbing a piece of chalk over it and wiping it away.

Since the number is the only thing that will change, it wasn’t a big deal to leave the rest of the easel without curing it.

I love the contrast of the black and green for this and it will be a fun piece of Christmas decor that I’ll display as we mark off the days.

My sunroom this year is an explosion of colors! I usually choose two colors and decorate with those in mind. This year, I want a bright, cheerful, colorful space in this room. I’ll be sharing some decorating ideas for this room next week.
