Caramelized Peach Topping~Perfect for Pound Cake
I am finally getting settled in to my new home. One thing that always makes a place feel like home to me is the first time I cook in the kitchen. On Saturday, I set out to do just that with a delicious pound cake and caramelized peaches recipe.
The first place I lived after moving out of my parents house was a small apartment. I set up my kitchen just the way I wanted it, but I didn’t do a lot of baking.
Two years later in my quiet new home at 11:30 at night I decided it was time to bake! I used a basic pound cake recipe.
I love my mixer!
I did deviate from the directions and used a brownie pan instead of a loaf pan to bake it in. I topped it all off with some caramelized cinnamon peaches!
Peel and slice peaches, simmer in butter, sugar and cinnamon until tender.
Since it was my first time cooking in this kitchen I had to wait a while to gauge the temperature of the oven and the cake takes about an hour to bake. So there I was a 1:00 am eating of the pound cake in my kitchen as the rest of my little family was fast asleep! I love the way a house smells after baking. For the first time I didn’t smell the construction saw dust or paint, I smelled this amazing mixture of peaches, vanilla and sugar and I felt at home.
Ingredients for Caramelized Cinnamon Peaches
Two peaches – peeled and sliced evenly
Two tablespoons butter
Two tablespoons sugar
Cinnamon to taste
Directions
Melt two tablespoons of butter in a skillet pan (12 inch or larger preferred) on medium to low heat
Peal and slice the peaches
Once butter is melted add the sugar and mix together
Add peaches and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste
Simmer for ten minutes, flipping the peaches over every two minutes
Once the peaches are tender, pour over a slice of cake. To take this to over the top delicious, I added a scoop of butter pecan ice cream on top!

Eating a delicious dessert at one o’clock in the morning isn’t something I’d do often, but this was too delicious to wait until the next day!

Love that you were up late baking and eating your treat! I like to bake cookies late at night – especially around Christmas – probably because that is the only way they will get done! I have never tried caramelized peaches before – but it sure looks incredible! Thanks for sharing!
