Recently, Gloria and I participated in the Charleston Pride Parade. This was a first for both of us, but it won’t be the last. The concept of equality for everyone is one that we both feel strongly about. Marching in the pride parade was a very small gesture, but it is one that meant a lot to us. It was great being out there with open-minded, equality loving people. Be An Ally!
The gains that have been made for equality are notable and long overdue, but there is still so much more than needs to be accomplished. Being an ally means standing up and letting our voices and our votes be heard. It means striving to let our steadfast belief in equality for all be something that we continually work for.
It was a joyful day as we marched with Circular Congregational Church and chanted, “God is good. God is great. God loves you, gay or straight.” Christian love should always mean spreading love to all.
Being inclusive, caring about all people is important to both of us. Participating in the Pride Parade isn’t going to change the world, but it’s a positive action that was easy to take to let others know where we stand.
