A couple of years ago, I put together an Irish Blessing Wall Art for St. Patrick’s Day. This year, I decided to rework it and give it a different look. This was super simple to make and it adds a little touch of the Irish to my home. With only a few items, it’s a fun, quick and easy St. Patrick’s Day Wall Decor.
I started by removing everything from the Irish Blessing piece. Any piece of wood will work for this project, but this one already has twine on hooks for hanging, so that’s one less step.
I covered the wood with a sheet of laminated canvas and trimmed it down to size. I used a small amount of hot glue to adhere it to the wood.
I bought these chipboard letters with script writing on them recently at Michaels. I think they’re a good look for this.
Once I had each letter in place, I used small dots of hot glue to keep them in place.
I found a package of unpainted shamrocks at Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts that are just the right size for this project.
I gave several of them two coats of Folk Art Fresh Foliage acrylic paint.
I thought that a little more green was needed for the plaque, so I added a strip of green ribbon to the top and bottom. I like the pop of color. The shamrocks are hot glued in place.
I’m planning on hanging this in my sun room until St. Patrick’s Day. On that day, I’ll hang it on our front door. I like to add either a bow or some kind of embellishment to the door hanger. I bought a package of felt shamrocks that came with two different colors and styles. I hot glued the scrolled one onto the solid one.
I added a dot of hot glue to the back of the felt shamrocks and adhered it to the door hanger. It will come off easily enough when I need the hanger for something else. I made a second one that it hot glued to a small nail for hanging on a wall.
How easy was this? I don’t do much decorating for St. Patrick’s Day, but given that my family has Irish heritage, I like to give a little nod to the day.
